Thanx

I was in day 17 without blogging. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the wishes that I have received lately. Indeed, I was very TOUCHED. Thanx also for being patient with me throughout this period. Some of you knew about it and some dont. Anyway, will let you all know in due time.

For the time being, since JULY is the food festival / season of Malaysia, we all got to enjoy varities of fruit. I had the opportunity to taste a really wonderful D24 Durian that was chosen by a squirrel. Hey ! They only chose the best.

Take a look at the pic and tell me if it is not good. Chuckle !

The tiles is 8" x 8" . So, the Durian is of average size.

The side bitten by Squirrel.

See how sharp their teeth are ? The bite thru the tough thorny errr....husk ? Nope....whats the word ? ....errrr............I'm pretty sure its HUSK. Let me check wiki first. ..............

Yeah ! Its husk.

As usual, remove the bitten flesh and eat the rest. Its incredibly creamy, custardy and slightly on the bitter side. I do prefer the bitter type ; the sweet type is a no no for MOI.

Those who are not sure of this fruit , do refer to Durian from Wikipedia.

The usual comment from those who dont like them is , i.e.

"It has the texture of a cold cow pat , it smells like a poorly maintained public convenience but the taste is worse!". This is how the Asian fruit durian was first described , by western expats living in Singapore.

Some local connoisseurs, who hold this fruit in very high regard, claimed "The texture is like baked custard, while the smell and taste are simply in-describable but delicious".

Lolz.........

Cheers !

If the thing tastes like cow poop why does it need a porcupine husk? We get odd fruit\veggies at the market - some of them look poisonous.

reading your durian posts is making me yearn for durians, but I've got to wait until next week when a couple of pals and I are going to feast-out on durians only... salivating!
