Beef Bali
This is a delicious Balinese Beef. Lets called it a sweet, spicy and a little salty dish meant to be taken with rice. Steamed white rice that is..KY you NOOB !
Simple dish to cook . Note : Ingredient and cooking time is just an estimation. Do adjust or modified as you deem fit. I forgotten to weigh and time the recipe. Sorry..............
Ingredient for 5 persons
1) Shallot - 50 gm
2) Garlic - 50 gm
3) Lemongrass - 30 gm
4) Tumeric - 15 gm
5) Galangal - 10 gm
6) Red Chilli - 30 gm
7) Dry Chilli - 50 gm
8) Prawn Paste - 15 gm
9) Sugar - 20 gm
10) Kaffir Lime Leaf - 2 pieces
11) Tamarind Paste - 15 gm - add a little water
12) Chicken Stock / Water - 100 - 125 ml
13) Salt and Pepper - to taste
14) Beef - sliced - 800 gm ( more if you want ) pre boil first to tenderize the meat
15) Onion - Sliced for garnishing and accompaniment - 100 gm
Blend the first 7 ingredient. Sauteed in hot oil till fragrant about couples 3 - 5 minutes depending on heat. Dump in the pre boil beef and stir fry for 2 minutes.Add in the prawn paste ( belacan ), sugar, kaffir lime leaves, Tamarind liquid and chicken stock. Add in a little onion if you like them cooked. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Served hot. Oops! I actually, cut up some angle bean and blanch ( not sure of word ) in hot oil for about 20 seconds. Drained on paper towel to remove as much oil as possible. I love the crunchiness. You can also cooked them together during the last few minutes of the simmering part.
Cheers !
